Huzzah and hello, world! :D Pardon my excitement, I'm on the happy cloud of homeownership! My husband and I have been working together to achieve this dream for a long time: to have a place to call our own. A house in which to keep our home. After both of us graduated, we began saving in earnest to get out of our apartment. Summer of 2024, we started looking at houses on Zillow and researching the ins-and-outs of homebuying. We decided to stay in Ruston, LA, and were very fortunate when we booked our first walkthrough on Zillow that we were paired with Angela Patterson with Haven Homes Team. We were such novices at the start of this process (and still are in so many ways!) we didn't know what we were looking for in a realtor. Since then, we have learned PATIENCE is the number one thing an agent serving new homebuyers needs. Luckily, Angie was well equipped in this department. Late night texts and requests to view homes? She was there. False starts and dead ends in the house search? She was there. Newbie questions? There. Bad day at work? She was still there. She hung in there with us 'til the end and we cannot thank her enough for her good humor and resilience through this process. Additionally, Angie was well equipped with tips as to who we should hire in the area in terms of reputable vendors for inspections, pest control, and so on. (Shout out to Robert Smith with Inspection Smith, too! Very thorough, effective web interface.) When we began making offers on homes, Ms. Daisy Wade with Haven Homes was also good to keep our email inboxes appraised of the details and insured we had covered all of our bases. Now, since beginning our search half a year ago in September of 2024, we find ourselves in a very cute home here in March of 2025. After a few very hectic weeks, we are starting to relax into our new space and we can scarcely believe we made it.
